I grew up with a family of art and artists and knew by the time I got out of kindergarten I was going to paint my life full! I have painted every day for twenty years trying to find myself, which I have over and over again never growing bored, always curiously confronting the puzzle on the canvas. Different color with shapes that weave in and out of smudges that lend to backgrounds, it challenges my passion to create an interesting and beautiful thing out of this slippery colored oil.
When I am finished with a piece I like to buff out the outer layers getting an understanding of what it is, this rich complicated surface I've had a relationship with for a time, each one has a small piece of my heart.
My work brings me closer to myself and understanding the relationship I have with the world.
I attended SCAD out of high school in Savannah, GA and have lived in Atlanta for all the years since growing my children and my work and many pets under the old oaks and among the shade garden which makes up the other half of my passion.
All the pieces of my life have helped pull together the abstract, and abstract botanical paintings I am so drawn to create. The possibilities of sharing my vision of beauty means to me what a good cook must feel in making a dinner that has been enjoyed by others, I'm so grateful to be able to share, and so hope that others will enjoy the pieces as I have enjoyed creating them. - Suzanne
