Collection: Scotty Peek

Scotty Peek is a painter living in Columbia SC. His landscape paintings usually begin from life or photo, but often abandon the reference to freely explore abstraction and non-representation. This begins a back-and-forth, possibly working from the reference again, building, destroying, deciding what's important, what's not, until the painting, while grounded in reality, offers something beyond a direct representation.
Scotty received his Master’s in Fine Arts from the University of South Carolina in 2000 and his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Austin Peay State University (TN) in 1995.
Scotty and his handbag-making wife, Sally create in adjoining home studios, where they also share two daughters and two dogs. I paint and draw, mostly landscapes, often abstracted.
