Kim Kinard Schuessler, an artist, educator, and philanthropist received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Georgia. Kim studied art at Parsons School of Design in New York, Cortona, Italy, and Dijon, France. After graduation, Kim furthered her education, received accreditation as a K-12 art teacher, and was employed by Fulton County Public Schools. While teaching, she received the nationwide art teacher award from Original Works and helped implement the art curriculum for the ED Hirsch Core Knowledge Program. Kim was given the honor of being a facilitator for educators for the 1996 Olympic Rings Exhibition at the High Museum of Art.
Two Governors of Georgia appointed Kim to The Georgia Council of the Arts where she served several terms. Kim also served on the Young Audiences Board of Georgia at the Woodruff Arts Center. Young Audiences is the nation's oldest and largest arts-in-education learning network.
Kim is a board member at The Smithsonian's Cooper Hewitt Design Museum in New York. Currently she serves on the Capital Campaign for The Smithsonian representing Cooper Hewitt. She also serves on the design committee which is responsible for the National Design Awards. In the past, she served on the education committee.
