I once heard that every artist wants to look at their canvas and see themselves. For years I searched to find myself on the canvas, and I believe I have...yet the end result continues to change as I continue to make changes in my life, hopefully improving and growing. I've developed a style that lends itself to imperfection, just as I am imperfect. I sometimes leave space that one would intuitively desire to give a more finished look, and by doing so, allow the viewer to complete the story. Painting in my style requires restraint and discipline, as I spend much more time mixing my color and stepping away from the canvas, than actually applying the brush. I try to say as much as possible in as few strokes as possible. Those that know me know I'm a simple girl, living a simple life. I've embraced this simplicity and try to reflect that in my painting as well. Before I began painting full time, I dreamed of a verse in scripture, "aspire to live a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands." I didn't really know how that verse would come to impact my life and art as much as it has. I'm a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, imperfect but made perfect only through Him, working with my hands for His glory, not mine. I'm very thankful that I'm able to do and share something that I love, and I hope to bring others closer to Him through this gift of art.
Born and raised in Glencoe, Alabama, I earned a B.A. in graphic design, and worked several years as a graphic artist and eventually owned my own advertising agency. For my Christmas present in 2008, my husband gave me oil painting lessons, as he knew this was a desire in my heart. Little did he know what he was getting himself into! I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have three beautiful children. I'm a member of Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society.
